Where We Are
From 1994 to the present time, trillions of Rands have been spent on "development" projects all over South Africa, primarily led by the state through government and public sector actions, enactments and procurement. However after 30+ years of this "Masakhane" economy; which was conceived to undo the harm perpetrated by the "Apartheid" economy over almost 90 years (1908-1994); the vast majority of black South Africans still live in poverty, afflicted by inequality, within the reality of unemployment; and similarly the vast majority of the impoverished, the economically excluded and the unemployed are black South Africans.
Politics, government machinations, state expenditures and public sector manipulations cannot do anything other than overpay for things bought by the state or the public sector. This is not a way to create sustainable wealth, as most of the profiteering on public contracts is either used to enrich the contractors or to bribe the contract issuers. This is where we are, in a situation where the ideological imperative is to enable economic liberation, and the social imperative is to rely on the government to lead the way. Nowhere in history has any government been able to facilitate the economic liberation of its people, and for South Africa to follow this path is pure folly.
The private sector imbued with vibrant competition, is the only mechanism for economic prosperity and is the only means by which the economic liberation of all people can be achieved. It is against this background that Rosewood has been created, as a private sector solution to an economic problem that does not require any taxpayer funded charity. In any event there are no instances of state-funded economic liberation projects, in the last 30+ years, that have succeeded or that have achieved their objectives; and as such the Rosewood Methodology will prevail and succeed.
About Rosewood
Rosewood and the Rosewood Startups have been created by Avishkar Govender, of Durban (South Africa). Avishkar's background is in political campaigning for a range of political ideologies and mainstreams, in theatres around the world, from 1996 to 2018.
In this time Avishkar developed a unique and world first model for a political constituency office which contains a campaign training centre, which enables perpetual campaigning and which does not require subsidies, NGO funding or donations.
Avishkar contends that this model, which was proved in Durban between 2003 and 2010, is the solution which enables Corruption Free Politics, as no donations mean no bribes. Avishkar turned away from political campaigning and completed a BCom degree in business management, marketing management and supply chain management between 2019 and 2022, during which time he created the Rosewood Methodology and the Rosewood Startups.
Now while completing his honours in Marketing, Avishkar is preparing to establish Rosewood Private Equity and the Rosewood Startups, so as to enable the solutions that have been developed and the creation of permanent jobs that are intended. Most of actual operations of the Rosewood Startups will be based in Durban (South Africa) as is the purpose of local economic development.
